World Map Cutout from Famille Summerbelle
This gorgeous print based upon an original hand paper cut from Famille Summerbelle made my day. Finally a world map that puts a little character into its role. The details capture a bit of each of the continental idiosyncrasies and of the seas. Hours could be spent finding all the little images. Perfect for any kids room.
Size: 70cm x 50cm. Printed on 270gsm white paper in France
While your at it, check out their website for impressive maps of my favorite cities: London, New York and Paris. In fact, their entire line is simply wonderful. Check it out here.

Back to school season is here…and, sometimes, that means some tears…tears at having to spend a day away from loved ones and loved things. Mom. Dad. Sister. Brother. The family pet. A favorite stuffed animal. A favorite toy. You name it. All reasons for mini-heartbreak in the morning.
A few months ago a friend shared a GREAT idea that is sure to minimize the sniffles. Her son was very attached to his toy truck and would throw a mini-tantrum when he was not allowed to take it with him to pre-school. They struggled and struggled for a few weeks until she came up with a brilliant solution. She took a color picture of the toy and had it laminated (about the size of a playing card when all was said and done). She then punched a hole in the laminated photo and tied it to his backpack so that he could “take” his much-loved truck with him every day. It worked like a charm!
This easy, fast and fun solution is applicable to MANY objects of attached affection and is a super way to help get your kiddo through the door. With my daughter only being 5 months old, we aren’t quite there yet. That said, this tip was too good not to share. Hope you find it helpful!

A little something for your wee one to enjoy! We love these videos, sure to make your babe or child smile and dance.
Big Green Rabbit offers kids the opportunity to play a game, learn a dance, sing a song or watch a show. Each one is designed to get kids to engage with the characters and dance and move during each episode, while learning about the environment and health. Targeting 3-6 year old kids on health and environmentally-focused themes proves that education can be fun! read more »

My Art Place Portfolio
Like many little kids, I was a prolific artist in my early years. I showered my parents (well, everyone) with dozens of “masterpieces” featuring families of stick figures with arms coming out of their ears. I eventually improved (with practice) and we eventually ran out of room for the combined creative efforts of my sister and I. Needless to say, our parents would have LOVED the My Art Place Portfolio.
Fun and functional, this super portfolio is divided into eight color-tabbed sections that help you organize by year, artistic medium, child – you name it. It has a handy handle so you can tote your little one’s works of art to grandma’s house. And it is spacious, with plenty of room to hold paper sized up to 12″x18″.
At $19.98 this perfect portfolio is well-priced. Click here to purchase from Hearthsong.

This Sunday we took our daughter, Lexi, to meet some of my husband’s lifelong family friends. They are delightful, wonderful, warm and welcoming and thrilled to meet our sweet girl. Considering my husband and their son have been friends since they were 3, you might say that these are like another set of grandparents for Lexi. Everyone’s expectations were set that she would welcome them just as excitedly as she has every other person to date. Visions of soft focus smiling and hugging and giggles come to mind but, our usually smiley, sweet, bubbly daughter burst into tears at the sight of them. Oh my – we weren’t expecting that. read more »

Gioia enjoying the spaciousness of her "big girl" crib
The time is coming where I will have to sleep train myself. My little girl (Gioia) is outgrowing her co-sleeper. Soon her head and feet will touch the ends of her little nest and it will be time for her to “graduate” to her crib, in her own room, that is not attached to my side of the bed. I am panicked. How will I train myself? There is comfort in being able to wake up at any point during the night and see her sweet face slumbering next to mine. There is comfort in seeing the rise and fall of her little chest. There is comfort in hearing her nighttime coos, squeaks and grunts. And soon (too soon!) I will have to gain my comfort through a baby monitor. read more »
