Custom Silhouette by Pretty Faces on Etsy

When I was a young girl, my family lived in Paris.  One of my favorite mementos from that time is a pair of silhouettes of my mother and I from a visit to Montmartre.  I display them to this day and it is often becomes a  conversation piece.  read more »

Jessica Hische Letterpress 'L'

My husband is a typography geek so, I’m always on the lookout for new cool letterpress thingamajigs.  And I dig the letterforms by Jessica Hische.  They make a great gift for new parents, slightly used parents, grandparents or frankly, anyone. Check them out here.

Not only that, our LuxeMom typeface Buttermilk is one of Jessica’s masterpieces as well.

Three Sizes Fit All Activity Table

Your kiddos can literally put it all on the table with this Land of Nod Activity Table. Their exclusive Three Sizes Fit All Table grows with your child, allowing you to convert your table as your child grows. The 15 in. table is designed for the little ones and is ideal for trains and craft projects. The 23 in. table is the right size for older kids who are ready to pull up a chair. Add the 30″ legs to convert the table to a desk for studious older kids. My favorite part? You can add a paper roller for non-stop drawing fun. Where was this fun table when I was a kid?!?

Have a way with Wordles

Posted in Home & Garden {Art, Furniture & Decor}, Mom & Babe Activities on September 20th, 2010 by LuxeMomDaniela – Be the first to comment

Last week I was at a work meeting and one of the ladies from our PR agency introduced me to WORDLE. She uses the program to include “word cloud” slides in her presentations. Two seconds into the program and I was hooked.

I can think of a number of different non-work uses for this program. Specifically, what a fun art project for moms & kiddos! You simply enter a bunch of words (or a website or Twitter account) and Wordle arranges the words into a word cloud. You can select horizontal or vertical or half and half. You can select colors. You can select font. The end result is your very own personalized (and very framable, if you ask me) work of art!

For a step further you can check out Tagxedo. Not only can you select alignment, font and color…you can also choose to have your words arranged in a picture. I used Tagxedo to form the word cloud pictured here. I simply typed in “www.LuxeMom.com” and chose the duck shape and wa-la! Tagxedo pulled words from our website and arranged them into this super cute word-duck. Love it!

Have fun creating your own art projects with Wordle or Tagxedo. I am planning to create a Tagxedo word cloud for my daughter’s room that includes family member names, terms of endearment, etc. I may not be able to draw, but I can Tagxedo! Enjoy!

How cute are these?  3Sprouts has adorable organic cotton canvas storage bins that are sturdy enough to hold a ton of stuff and cute enough to want to display.  And that, my friends, makes them a clear winner.  Available with owl, fox, zebra, elephant, monkey or hippo designs.  Check them out here.

World Map Cutout from Famille Summerbelle

This gorgeous print based upon an original hand paper cut from Famille Summerbelle made my day. Finally a world map that puts a little character into its role.  The details capture a bit of each of the continental idiosyncrasies and of the seas. Hours could be spent finding all the little images. Perfect for any kids room.

Size: 70cm x 50cm. Printed on 270gsm white paper in France

While your at it, check out their website for impressive maps of my favorite cities: London, New York and Paris.  In fact, their entire line is simply wonderful.  Check it out here.
